The Matata caves

For an out of the ordinary outing, the hotel Les Terrasses recommends that you visit the caves of Matata, located in the town of Meschers-sur-Gironde, one hour from the hotel by taking the ferry to Royan.

Open to the public from Easter to All Saints' Day, the Matata caves are also an eco-museum dedicated to the life of the "Troglodytes".

The terraces arranged in front of the caves offer you a breathtaking panorama over the entire Gironde estuary: from the Cordouan Lighthouse to the Pointe de Grave.
